MT's Rating of Couples Retreat: 8 out of 10
Their relationship in danger of dissipating, a couple racing to salvage their marriage invites three other couples to join them at a tropical island resort. Upon arriving at the island paradise to enjoy some carefree fun in the sun, the other couples are disturbed to discover that participation in therapy sessions is mandatory if they hope to remain at the resort.Peter Bilingsley directs a comedy penned by Jon Favreau, produced by Vince Vaughn, and pairing the two Made collaborators onscreen with co-stars Jason Bateman and Faizon Love. MovieTradition gives Couples Retreat a 8 our 10 for its hilarious comedy and well put together plot line. The story is set with four dysfunctional families that have the normal problems of couples married for a long time. Each couple is suffering from not being able to get away from the job, the kids, and to re inhabit the atmosphere of FUN! When one of the couple's announces that they are on track to divorce and the only thing that may get them back to the way they were before they were married is to go on a couple's retreat the other families do not really want to participate.. until they learn of the "fun" they are going to have - something they haven't experienced in years! From then on the movie is a barrel of laughs, especially for couples who need a good laugh. MovieTradition recommends this movie to anyone over the age of 13. This is finally a movie that does what we embody as humor.. it touched on many subjects of a marriage - made fun of it - and did it all with out getting too vulgar. Perfect for couples who need a good laugh and a night on the town. MovieTradition says to get out to the nearest theater and watch this film, it's way worth the money!
