A Critics Thought...

MT's Rating of The Box : 5 out of 10

Screen siren Cameron Diaz and former X-Man James Marsden star in the supernatural horror picture The Box (2008), directed by Donnie Darko cult fave Richard Kelly. The film's premise involves a strange and ominous box granted to a young couple by a mysterious stranger (Frank Langella). They are informed that pressing various buttons on the box will grant them riches while killing a person unknown to them in the process. Executive produced by Ted Hamm, the film was adapted by Kelly from Richard Matheson's 1970 short story Button, Button.

MovieTradition gives "The Box" a 5 out of 10. This movie really disappointed Team MovieTradition. With a list full of well known actors this flick lacked drastically in interesting acting. It was merely a 70's Science Fiction film created in 2009. MovieTradition feels this film will only relate to truly hardcore science fiction fans, if you do not fit the definition of hardcore sci-fi fan... please do not waste your money. Mainly our problems with this film would be that nothing.. and we mean nothing... happened until about 70 - 80 minutes into the film, the first 70 - 80 minutes were extremely slow and not interesting. MovieTradition will say that in the end the question posed by the writers will make the audience think for a moment, "What would I choose..." but only for a moment because the ending of this film relates to the beginning - confusing and non-interesting. This flick would have made an interesting Television movie.. but that's it. So in conclusion, if you are not a hardcore sci-fi fan - please do not spend the $10 for this ticket.
